All of us are considerate of ourselves and considerate of others in what we say and do. Where we fall on how considerate (or not) of self and others shapes our values and informs our actions. Problems can come up when there is a misalignment or imbalance on these two scales and an adjustment may be needed.

I was recently watching a training video about Collaborative & Proactive Solutions, an approach to identifying the problems that cause concerning behaviors in kids and teens. The presenter of the training, Dr. Ross Greene, made an interesting observation about how undesirable behaviors in teens tend to develop and the role caregivers play in that development. To best explain this observation, Dr. Greene identified two types of kids - the lucky ones and the unlucky ones.
